A heating engineer looks after the whole system that heats your home and your hot water: the boiler, the gas supply to it, the pump and valves, the pipework, the radiators, the cylinder if you have one, and the controls that tie them together. A plumber can change a tap. Only a Gas Safe registered engineer is legally permitted to work on the gas side of your boiler, and only an engineer who understands the whole system will spot that your "broken boiler" is actually a seized diverter valve, a clogged heat exchanger, or a system full of sludge that has been quietly killing pumps for years.
CSGHP Ltd is Chris Smith's business, set up in 2019 after an apprenticeship at British Gas and years with E.ON and Vaillant, 23 years in the trade since 2003. That background matters on the day: manufacturer training means faults get identified from the symptoms rather than by swapping parts one at a time at your expense.
We work on domestic properties only. That is a deliberate choice. Homes, landlords and letting agents across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire get an engineer whose day is not being interrupted by commercial plant work, which is why a same or next-day response is realistic for most breakdowns inside our opening hours.
Every visit starts with a fixed, known cost. A diagnostic call-out is £80 + VAT and includes the first hour on site. If the repair needs more than that hour, you are given a price and you decide before we carry on. There is no open-ended hourly meter running while you wait in the kitchen.
