Service Overview

What a proper boiler installation involves

Replacing a boiler is not swapping a box on the wall. Done properly it starts with working out what the house actually needs, heat loss, number of bathrooms, hot water demand at peak times, gas supply capacity, existing pipe sizes, flue routes and condensate drainage, and ends with a system that has been flushed, dosed, balanced, commissioned and registered for warranty.

CSGHP Ltd is a Baxi approved installer and a Vaillant registered installer, which is why those brands are our usual recommendations: the training is manufacturer-led and the extended warranties of 5, 7 or 10 years are available through us. If you have a brand preference we are happy to work with it, and if you would rather not choose, we will specify a boiler that fits the property rather than the one that happens to be on offer.

Quotes for new boilers are free, and they are quotes rather than estimates. You get a written price for the installation before anything is ordered, and that price is what you pay on completion, with a deposit requested in some situations, and staged payments where a larger project runs across several visits.

We install for homeowners, landlords and letting agents across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire, on domestic properties only. Most straightforward like-for-like replacements are a one-day job; conversions and relocations take longer and the timescale is given to you up front, not discovered halfway through.

Who this is for

Boilers past their useful life

Repeated repairs, parts getting harder to find, or a bill that is starting to look like a contribution towards a new appliance with a 10-year warranty.

Emergency replacements

When a boiler is beyond repair we work fast, one customer had the boiler diagnosed the same day and the replacement fitted the very next day.

Homes that have outgrown the system

An extension, a loft conversion or a second bathroom changes the heat and hot water demand, and the old boiler was never sized for it.

Landlords protecting a property

A new boiler with a manufacturer warranty and a documented annual service is far cheaper than winter emergency call-outs across a portfolio.

Leave It and It Gets Worse

What a badly specified installation costs you later

The two most expensive installation mistakes are invisible on the day. The first is sizing: an oversized combi cycles on and off, wastes gas and wears its components early, while an undersized one leaves a family fighting over shower temperature every morning. The second is fitting a new boiler onto a dirty system. Sludge and debris from old pipework and radiator bottoms get drawn straight into a brand-new heat exchanger: the fastest way to lose efficiency, gain noise, and land a warranty rejection.

Warranties are conditional. Manufacturers require correct commissioning, registration and, in almost every case, an annual service on time. Installations that are never registered, or systems never serviced, leave the homeowner holding a repair bill that the warranty should have covered.

Then there is the day-to-day disruption of getting it wrong. A flue routed badly, a condensate pipe run outside without insulation that freezes in the first cold snap, no filter fitted, an unbalanced system where the far bedroom never warms up, each of these is another visit, another cost and another winter of the heating not quite working.

Common mistakes we are called out to

  • Buying on headline price without a heat loss and hot water demand check for the actual house.
  • Accepting an estimate instead of a fixed written quote, then absorbing extras once the old boiler is off the wall.
  • Skipping a system flush and a magnetic filter, then losing warranty cover on debris-related damage.
  • Choosing a combi for a busy two-bathroom home where a system boiler and cylinder would deliver the hot water properly.
  • Letting the annual service lapse and quietly voiding a 10-year warranty.

Our Process

How the work runs, step by step

The same sequence every time, so you always know what happens next and what it costs before it happens.

  1. 1

    Step 1: Free survey

We visit, measure and ask how the household actually uses heating and hot water, bathrooms, showers, peak times, cold rooms, planned extensions and gas meter capacity.

  2. 2

    Step 2: Free written quote

You get a fixed quote setting out the boiler specified, the warranty length, what is included, and how long the installation will take. No pressure and no hidden extras.

  3. 3

    Step 3: Preparation

Boiler and parts ordered, a date agreed, dust sheets and floor protection down, water and gas isolated, and the old appliance removed and taken away.

  4. 4

    Step 4: Installation

New boiler mounted, gas and water pipework upgraded where needed, flue and condensate routed correctly and insulated, magnetic filter fitted, system flushed and dosed with inhibitor.

  5. 5

    Step 5: Commissioning and testing

Gas rate and working pressure set, combustion analysed, controls programmed, radiators balanced room by room, and hot water and heating proven in front of you.

  6. 6

    Step 6: Handover and registration

Warranty registered with the manufacturer, paperwork and Building Regulations notification handled, controls demonstrated, and a 12-month workmanship guarantee on top of the manufacturer cover.

The Benefits

What you actually get for the money

Speed without shortcuts

Most like-for-like replacements are completed in a day, and urgent breakdown replacements have gone in the day after diagnosis.

Safety and compliance covered

Gas Safe registered No. 593241, ACS assessed, Building Regulations notification handled and £2m public liability cover in place.

Longevity from day one

Flushed system, correct inhibitor, magnetic filter and balanced radiators, the conditions a boiler needs to reach the end of a 10-year warranty.

Lower running costs

A correctly sized modern condensing boiler with properly set controls burns less gas than an oversized appliance short-cycling on an old programmer.

One fixed price

Free survey, free written quote, fixed installation cost, payment on completion, with staged payments on larger multi-visit projects.

Care taken in your home

Customers describe clean, careful work, including a boiler replacement in a Grade II listed home and installations for elderly and vulnerable customers.

In Detail

Boiler types, conversions and what changes the price

Installation quotes differ because installations differ. These are the variables that decide what your job involves.

Combi, system and regular boilers

A combi heats water instantly and needs no cylinder or tanks, which frees up cupboard and loft space and suits most one-bathroom homes. Its limit is simultaneous demand: two showers at once will disappoint anyone.

A system boiler works with an unvented or vented cylinder and delivers strong, steady hot water to several outlets at the same time: the right answer for larger houses and multiple bathrooms. A regular (heat-only) boiler keeps the traditional tank-fed arrangement and is often the sensible, lower-disruption choice in older properties with vulnerable pipework or low incoming mains pressure.

Like-for-like swaps versus conversions

A like-for-like replacement in the same position is the quickest and cheapest route: existing pipework is reused where it is sound, and the work is usually a single day.

A conversion, regular to combi, or moving the boiler from a bedroom cupboard to the kitchen or garage, involves removing tanks, capping and rerouting pipework, new gas and condensate runs, a new flue position, and making good. It costs more and takes longer, and the quote says so before you commit.

The parts of the job people forget to compare

Gas supply pipe upgrades where the existing run cannot support the new appliance's rate. Magnetic filters to protect the heat exchanger. A powerflush or chemical clean where the system is dirty. Insulated condensate routing so it does not freeze in January. Thermostatic radiator valves and modern controls. Removal and disposal of the old boiler and any tanks.

Where a system is heavily contaminated we will recommend power flushing before the new boiler goes on. It is not an upsell, it is what protects the warranty on the appliance you have just paid for.

Warranties, registration and keeping cover valid

As a Baxi approved installer and Vaillant registered installer we can offer manufacturer warranties of 5, 7 or 10 years depending on the boiler chosen. We register the appliance so the cover actually exists rather than sitting in a drawer.

Keeping it valid is simple: have the boiler serviced annually, on time. Servicing starts at £75 + VAT, and it is the single cheapest thing you can do to protect a warranty worth hundreds of pounds. On top of the manufacturer cover, most of our work carries a 12-month workmanship guarantee.

Questions

Boiler Installation, your questions answered

Anything not covered here, call 07792 651029 and ask Chris directly.

How much does a new boiler cost in Nottingham?

It depends on the boiler specified and whether the job is a like-for-like swap or a conversion, so we do not publish a single figure. The survey and the written quote are free, the quote is fixed rather than an estimate, and it lists exactly what is included.

How long does a boiler installation take?

Most like-for-like replacements are completed in a day. Conversions, relocations and jobs that need new gas or pipework runs take longer, and the expected duration is stated in your quote before you agree to anything.

Which boilers do you install?

We are a Baxi approved installer and a Vaillant registered installer, so those are our usual recommendations. If you have a brand preference we are happy to work with it, and if you would rather not choose we will size and specify the right boiler for your home.

How long is the warranty on a new boiler?

Manufacturer warranties of 5, 7 or 10 years are available depending on the boiler chosen. We register the appliance on installation, and most of our work also carries a 12-month workmanship guarantee.

Can you replace a boiler in an emergency?

Yes, wherever our diary allows. One customer's boiler failed, we attended the same day, and the new boiler was ordered and fitted the very next day.

Do I need my system flushed before a new boiler?

If the existing system is dirty, yes, debris drawn into a new heat exchanger damages it and can invalidate the warranty. We will tell you honestly whether a chemical clean is enough or whether power flushing is the right call, and price it in the quote.

Do you handle the paperwork and Building Regulations?

Yes. Gas Safe notification, Building Regulations compliance and manufacturer warranty registration are all part of the installation, and you receive the documentation at handover.

How do payments work?

Boiler installations are paid on completion, with a deposit requested in some situations. Larger projects that run across several visits are arranged as staged payments.

Do you install boilers in Derby as well as Nottingham?

Yes. We cover Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield, Hucknall, Ilkeston, Beeston, Long Eaton, Matlock and Chesterfield, on domestic properties only.
